    Hi

I have a Dell Latitude laptop which won't turn on. Basically, if you press the power button it tries to start up for about 5 seconds and then shuts down. You can hear the fan starting and then stop and power lights flash a couple of times. Does anyone know a simple way of fixing this problem.

    Thanks

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

Does the connector on the mobo where you plug the a/c line feel loose? It is a real common problem for the conector to break off the mobo.

Hi, Thansk for your reply. No it feels fine to me, as it always has done. I have tried starting it with the battery, just the power cord and with the docking station. But everytime all 3 lights near the power button come on for about 5 seconds, you can hear the laptop starting up but then after 5 seconds it switches off.

Maybe the air vents are clogged with dust. Or try the 30 second trick.... Remove battery, power cord. Hold power button for 30 seconds. Connect "JUST" the power cord. Not the battery. I just got done working on the exact same laptop. Your problem is just a little different but could be the same problem. The laptop I was working on had a bad battery.
