    Dear All, :D

I have a 'Dell Latitude 100L series CPU Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz 256MB, Windows XP SP2, Windows Professional 2003.

I have done more or less all the available system tools to see if i can increase the performance, of the above laptop. What i would like to know!? has anybody tried and tested? in slightly overclocking the laptop to increase performance of some sort. I am just curious, as i work for a Primary School. The user complains of the laptop being sluggish. There is a fair amount of Music on the laptop. But still wants it kept there?

Any ideas on how to tweak the speed or perfomance of this laptop,or leave the laptop as it is?

    Thanks

    Any input is appreciated

256 Mb of RAM is the minimum for XP to run at a moderate speed, despite the incantations of MS in this respect.

I suggest you double the RAM at the very least, maybe go higher.

Stay clear of overclocking - not recommended except for the geeks and gamers, and unwise to even think of it on a laptop, IMHO.

Well i thought i'll ask ...as i was bearing that in mind? Do you know by any chance a good link that you can upgrade laptop RAM? or is it embedded on the board [i.e unable to change] ...any tip-off would be recommended.

    Thanks

May or may not be embedded, but generally a spare slot for additional RAM.

Log onto www.crucial.com and work through their memory selector - choose your country - I am in UK as you can see :)

Dell Latitude 100L Notebook Computer Specifications

To add insult to injury, video memory is shared from system memory.
When running 256 MB or more of system memory, 64 MB is allocated to video.
If mine, I would push system memory to 1GB, system max.
