    Hello all,

Still have a working Gateway 1700 computer from 2001, but the monitor has died. Here in Australia, they are some Brand New Dell E773 CRT 17" monitors going for next for nix. I want to get one but wanted to know if they have a 15 pin connector at the back, and if they are actually compatible with a gateway computer. thanks

I did put the specs in to yahoo, but just got the general specs for an old Dell computer with no info on connections.

    Hi radiogold,
The two types of connectors are VGA and DVI. VGA is the 15 pin, but you should be able to get a VGA to DVI adapter if the connector is DVI.

It should say VGA or DVI in the specifications or that it is "digital" if it is DVI (VGA is analogue).

I would not expect any problems, unless there is some extraordinary restriction by Gateway.

When you place the order, tell them that you have a Gateway and ask if there may be any reason why they would not refund the money in case it may not work (as I said, I don't see why it should).

    Matt
