When I got this box there were many users in the house so we had seperate log-on user ID's for convenience. Now they are all gone .... BUT the **** Splash screen still comes up asking to pick a "user" although there is only one listed! I want to get rig of this without loosing all my personalized settings ... can I simply copy all the files/subdirectories under WINDOWS/PROFILES/ "last user" into the directory WINDOWS/USERS/All Users and then delete the last user thru Control Panel/Users and everything will be OK ???
IF not .. what's the solution to get rid on the select a user splast screen ...

This has come up many times and you may find a better answer
by searching the board, than this one ...
In Network Neighbourhood select "Windows Logon "
Do not Reboot if asked to. You may need your Win98 CD.
In Windows Folder, delete any files with a .pwl extension.
    Reboot.
