Hi..recently bought software called Spywarebot and installed on my computer...ran fine.....subsesquently ran SpyBot Search and Destroy which evidently deleted files from the Spywarebot software rendering it dead as a doornail. I know this is confusing....these are the steps I've tried to reinstall spywarebot.

    1. Tried to uninstall using control panel. Got wierd message about not having the right privledge or something like that. Either got that message or the unstall stalled.

    2. Tried to uninstall using Uninstall V6 - no luck there either.

    3. Contacted vendor told me to reinstall into different directory but their install program gives me the message: there is another version running..cannot install.

    4. Finally noticed a support option to repair the installation in the control panel...looks for installation program ending is msi. I entered the path to the original setup program I downloaded from the vendor..but this won't work.

Bottom line...the vendor is useless - how do I remove a program that is llisted on the control panel but is corrupted? I'd like to know for future reference.

    Thanks for any info.....MIchelle

Sometimes it's very easy to fix the problem

When you think instead of panic - after trying everything - I did a system restore and everything works fine. Sorry for all the flailing about. I don't know if it would work for every problem like this but restore to the rescue - this time. Thanks.

Hi, Michelle. :) Thanks for your follow-up! System Restore is handy (when it works).

SpywareBot is currently on Spyware Warrior's List of Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products.
Although I did not find evidence on that page indicating malware issues related to SpywareBot (and AdwareAlert apparently has been de-listed), I'd still advise you to uninstall SpywareBot, make sure you have it completely removed from your computer, and steer clear of it (especially since there are several well-established, reputable anti-spyware applications - many for free - available on the Internet.;))

Scroll further down Spyware Warrior's List of Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products to the section titled "Trustworthy Anti-Spyware Products" (or click on this link) for examples of several reputable anti-spyware applications (with links provided).

There's a lot of good information on Spyware Warrior's List of Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products page. :)

    Good luck!
