    Hi,
When you delete History by using "Tools, "Internet Options" in IE 6, does this remove all the url's from your computer or is there also a listing in the Registry that has to be deleted?

The reason I asked is in the below Link, the author mentions removing History items from your computer.

    http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=198461

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
My last sentence should have read:

"The reason I asked is in the below Link, the author mentions removing History items from your Registry ".

There are things in the Registry called MRU (Most Recently Used) that do not get cleaned when using normal temp cleanup proceedures.

SpyBot and Adaware get most of these but not all, the below will.

Here are the best specialized programs to do the job.

DISK TEMP AND MRU(PRIVACY TRACKS) Cleanup

    Dclean http://www.xs4all.nl/~mp2004/

I think Dclean is the smallest, fastest most thorough temp cleaner there is.

    MRU BLASTER http://www.wilderssecurity.net/mrublaster.html

Cleans the registry of all tracks ( this is specifically what you asked about)
In MRUBlaster go to settings plugins and select both Cookie Blaster and IE Temp file cleaner, check the "Enable automatic" that is directly over the "Save settings and run now" then hit the Save settings and run now ".

Additionally I would get and use these also

    Spider: http://www.fsm.nl/ward/

Spider gets the infamous index.dat files, plus a few other things. Click scan then click clean, but when it asks for what to clean ckeck all drives and everything else.

    XpAntiSpy http://www.webattack.com/get/xpantispy.shtml

There are many setting in XpAntiSpy but the ones you would use for privacy are:

Heck I usually do them all EXCEPT "Enable fast Shutdown and Task-Scheduler service.

I also set it to Clear Pagefile on shutdown for cleaning but after reboot I always turn this back off and only clean it when I want. Some leave it on all the time.

Use the above and your computer will be squeaky clean.

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for the reply. I'll probably try one or more of your suggestions. Probably the MRU Blaster as I want to clean out the Registry.
