    Hi all,

    Regarding Outlook 2003...

Users here have PST's. Some huge. But a new policy says that no one can have data in there over 1 year old. So I need to figure out a way to write a rule in Outlook (that I can teach to users) to automatically delete anything in PST's over one year old.

I can do this in AutoArchiving via a global setting, but this only applies to mailboxes, not personal folders. How can I do it for PST's?

    Thanks!

    Chris

If you go into properties of the personal folders you can enable Auto Archiving.

True, but what I'm looking for is a way to set this globally. Because people who have hundreds (or more) of folders, setting them individually will take, well forever.

Have you looked at Tools->Mailbox Cleanup?

Just did, won't do, I don't think. I don't think I'm explaining this right, sorry...

The MAILBOX is not our problem. Those are limited to 50MB per user on the Exchange server. The problem is with PST's. These PST's are NOT part of the mailboxes. Consider "User A "...

He has a mailbox. He creates a PST in a folder on the C drive called Mail. The PST is named "My Personal Stuff ". In that personal folder, he has over 200 folders, subfolders, and files. That PST is 500MB in size.

Now, if I set (in Tools --> Options) AutoArchiving to run every day & permanently delete anything 365 days old, I can "Apply these settings to all folders now ". However, that only works for folders that are part of the mailbox. I checked, and it does NOT apply this setting to PST's.

In addition, if I right-click on the TOP folder of the PST, I can set no AutoArchiving options at all. You can only set options to subfolders of the PST root. Obviously, if User A has over 200 that will take entirely too much time.

What I need to know is if there is a way to automatically delete items in PST files that are 365 days old. PST items that are NOT part of mailboxes...

Thank you very much for all your help!

    Chris
