The simple task of deleting a shortcut on my desktop takes a lot more time than I believe it should. As a test, I created a shortcut to c:\config.sys on my Windows 2000 Professional Desktop. I then click delete, and click to confirm I want to delete the shortcut. It took over 15 seconds to complete the deletion, and the hard drive was running the entire time. Any thoughts or suggestion are appreciated. By the way, creating the shortcut is istantaneous.

Carnt suggest much, but I would ensure that the hard drive is defragmented often, and check your system resources. If something is hogging ram, this will occur. Sorry I carnt be of much more help.
