Deleted XP username

    I have deleted my XP username ( please dont ask this is very embarrassing) and cannot recover my old desktop. I have tried reproviding the username but a new desktop is provided. How do I recover my desktop please?
    Your help would be deeply and grovellingly appreciated

    It just stated it did not restore. I know I've been very stupid here - suspect I will just have to take my medicine. All essential data still on PC though. Sure made me think about backups!!
