How do I go about recovering deleted emails (within the last four days)?

I have Windows XP Home Edition, and my ISP and email is with AOL?

Same thing happened to my "Favorite Places" list on July 15th. AOL said is was a problem with the "host server" but still can't help me get it back.

    Any suggestions.

colorsandscents - Welcome to the Board :)

Are you downloading your emails to your hard disk or leaving them on the AOL server? If you are leaving them on the AOL server and have deleted them I would guess that the chances are zero.

This is not an XP problem and I have moved your thread to the appropriate forum with a title edit

    edit

Under mail settings I have checked the "Retain all mail I read in my "Saved Mail Folder ". This applies to ALL email.

But on some emails I save both on my PC AND on AOL, and some just on PC or AOL, not both. Depends on what it is.

AOL, one of the companies that pioneered making the internet friendly to the world, has become the butt of jokes, and an example of an ISP gone horribly wrong. Do a search on the BBS or Google "AOHell" :)

Important emails should be saved to your hard drive, not in your email client, whatever that may be. Don't ever rely on an ISP server to recover lost email, for if it's gone, chances are, they can't.

To minimize the risk of losing your mail again: 1. check into other ISPs available to you, and dump AOL 2. Always save important email to disk.

    Sorry,
    Johanna
