When I installed Netscape Navigator an unwanted NC icon was placed in my XP Home's System Tray.

My understanding is that this adds to start time. I seldom use NC.

How do I remove the NC icon from the System Tray?

    Thanks,

    Kerry

It's been a couple of years since I used Netscape, but there should be an option from within it that allows you to select whether or not the NC icon is to be displayed in the System Tray.

If you are unable to find this option you might want to look in your Windows Startup folder by clicking on START, PROGRAMS, STARTUP. This folder contains some of the programs that start automatically each time windows starts.

If you don't find what you're looking for there then you might want to give MSCONFIG a try. Click on START, RUN, type MSCONFIG in the run window and press OK. Once MSCONFIG is running click on the STARTUP tab. This area contains a listing of all programs that startup automatically when Windows starts. You should be able to find the program associated with the NC icon and remove the checkmark to stop it from starting the next time Windows restarts.

You do need to use some caution when working within this area as it is possible to shut off things that windows needs to operate properly if you're not paying attention.

    Thanks Rod.

It was in NC, Edit, Prefs, Advanced, uncheck "Enable Quick Launch.... "
