    Help! I can not delete this file that is on my pc. It is a exe file and when i try to delete/or move/or rename it, the message reads.... cannot bla bla bla....it is being used by another person or program. Close any program that might be using the file and try again.

    So I boot into safe mode and still get the same message. Help!

    It would help if you post the name of the exe file, please.

    Have you run Spybot and AdAware ? Update their reference files and run Spybot before AdAware.

    View the running processes for anything unusual and close them and try deleting that file. Also try booting into safe mode and deleteting that file.

    done that....I used the tree finger salute and using the task manager I killed off any and all process that I could without killing the system. Still no luck. So I tried safe mode and same thing....no luck. I even tried to boot to a windows startup disk and no luck. Any more idea? I really want this stinkn file off there.

    Thanks!

    When in safemode did you login as admin? Your going to need administration rights.

    Could also try deleting this from F8 c:\prompt.

    Could also try this:

    First download this reg file which adds a rightclick option "open command prompt here:[If you don't have this option already]

    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/command_prompt.reg

    The above patch is correct if using XP ntfs fat, if using fat32 your going to have to open it in notepad and edit it to reflect correct path to cmd.exe [change the part in the path that says winnt to windows and save.

    =============
    Now rightclick on the startbutton and select explore
    Scroll up to the the folder "desktop "
    Rightclick on it and select "open command prompt here "
    Don't change the command line [when you do above^] for the directory. It is pointed to the desktop folder.
    Type del "DVD XCOPY XPRESS XCRACK.exe " include quotes

    If all went well it's gone.

    If not you may want to try same procedure but before hitting the enter on the del command:[You may need to temporarily shutdown the explorer shell]

    Hit key combo of cntrl/alt/del
    On the "process tab ", highlight explorer and endtask
    Complete the delete routine as described
    On TaskManager Toolbar select File, NewTaskRun, and type in explorer.exe

    ===============
    This sounds more difficult then it is.

    Thanks for the update and I'm glad you "got it" but how did you get it? Please share the method for the fix that worked.

    We used the task manager to stop the right process and we were able to delete the file.

    Thanks again!
