    Hi,
A friend of mine was given a laptop from her granddaughter and she is trying to delete many of the programs, folders and files that the young teenager left on the computer. We managed to get rid of most of the files but are having one problem.

When I click the START button, on the right side of the window at the top, there are personal documents listed that her granddaughter apparently put there and I can't figure out how to get rid of them. I tried to right click and delete but there is no option. I even tried to figure out how to add something to that side of the screen and I can't seem to do anything.

I would appreciate any help you can give us on how to clean up that side of the window so it only shows the normal things, such as, My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, etc.

    Thank you.

    Jean

Sounds like you're talking about "Recent Documents. "

You can right click on em and select delete.

Or in Win Explorer you can drill down to C:\Docs and Settings\The User Name\My Recent Documents and delete them there.

Right click the Start button, left click Properties.

On the Start Menu tab, click the Customize button. In the window that opens, go to the Advanced tab.

    Click the Clear List button.

    Click OK and OK.

Thank you for the help. When I go to my friend's house next Tuesday, I'll try your suggestions and let you know what happens.

Miz - I did go to the Advanced Setting and clicked "Clear List" but they were still there.

Steve: There wasn't a folder called Recent Documents where I could click and see the documents. The files are listed right on the right side where the other folders are. When I tried to right click them, there was no option to delete them.

I will indeed go to Windows Explorer and try to delete the documents from there.

I'll let you know next week.
