    - i have a wlan network with three xp pro computers,
all computers connect directly to the internet through an access point,
    - i log in through identical user names with admin rights,
    i use the workgroup method,
    - if i download files from one computer to another there is no
    problem,
if i upload files larger than about 8k i get the "windows
delayed write failed" message and in event viewer event id
50: "{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all
the data for the file \Device\LanmanRedirector. The data
has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of
your computer hardware or network connection. Please try
    to save this file elsewhere."
in my cabled network it is identical,
    - i found a solution for win2k (Q321733) but not for xp,
    - i experimented with various nic's, ifc,
authenticitation, QoS, disk caching: no solution,
    - if i push from win2k (dual boot) to win xp there is no
    problem,
    - in my network configuration all computers connect directly
to the internet: the network setup wizard tells me that
this is not recommended because there is no reliable way
to share files between computers while protecting them
    from internet security threats,
    - if i setup a ftp server through iis files can be uploaded without problem,

thurik - welcome to the bbs and sorry for such a delay in anyone giving you an answer. Need a little more detail if you would since I'm not real clear on exactly how you are networked.

You said "all computers connect directly to the internet through an access point ". Not sure exactly what you mean by "access point ".

And are you interested in a local network where you can share files (both push and pull) with more safety or in something else?

i am just interested in file manipulations (both pushing and pulling), not particularly in safelty, i have a 3Com wireless access point, but my problems remain if i connect two computers with a swisted cable, what do you think

it is definitely not caching, i experimented extensively here,
the pageheap experiments are more complex, i am not sure,
so far i seem to do something wrong here running gflags,
what is your opinion about smb signing options,
that is difficult to track because there are 11 references in gpedit.msc to smb, any idea which reference is most relevant to experiment with, cheers
