    Hello everyone,

I'm using Windows XP Pro, and I'm experiencing the following problem:

There's supposed to be a delay before any sub-menu opens (when you hover over the point where this menu is contained). For no reason obvious to me, this delay appears to be set to 0.

I tried setting the MenuShowDelay at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop back to 400 (isn't that the default?). Initially this didn't have any effect...after a reboot it didn't have any effect either. When I checked the same spot in the registry, I found MenuShowDelay had returned to 0.

I tried an application, of which I don't remember the name at the moment, to solve the problem. No effect.

Is there anybody out there who knows why it got restored? Am I perhaps on the wrong track?

    TIA and regards, MrVulcan.

    BTW:
I nearly forgot to note that, under the Administrator account, everything is fine.

    Do you have "tweakui" installed?

There is an option for menu show delay. Well...actually it's a sliderbar but it will allow the customization of the menu show speed. Its under the "mouse" category.

Also there's a setting in the startmenu options, via a right click on the taskbar and selecting "properties ". Click on the startmenu tab and select "customize" and then the "advanced" tab. The option I'm referring to is the first one:
"Open submenus when I pause on them ".

Perhaps one or both of the above will make your preference stick.

As a sidenote, menushowdelay is in several places in the registry. Perhaps if you do a search for this value and change all of them, they may stick. Provided you have the user profile rights to make this change.
