del files from DOS

    I have to delete two files using DOS as per McAfee instructions.
    Would the proper sequence be CD windows, cd system C:\windows\system del filename.xxx Thank you

    Hi oldbear.
    The easiest sequence would be, from the DOS prompt, to type "cd\windows\system ", then "del <filename.xxx> ". The "\" could be important, if for some reason you do not start in the root directory - in other words if your prompt is anything other than "C:\> ". If your prompt is a standard prompt, putting in the "\" wont hurt, and the second one in necessary to complete the move to the directory in one command, rather than two.

    Alternatively, if you're feeling brave, you could just type "del c:\windows\system\filename.xxx ".

    All the above is assuming the C: drive is your Boot drive. If you're unsure about where your boot drive is, then it is "C ".
