Defrag Strangeness

I just defragged my hard drive and since strange things have been happening. I thought defragging was supposed to be a good thing?
The worst thing is my FinePrint utility won't work anymore.
Another thing is the display res keeps changing.
I can't wait to see what else happens...

 

Backup your valuable data. Run disk error check with both boxes tagged. Get HD makers diagnostic software and run all non-destructive tests.

BTW, any maintenance operation comes with risks. In the Win9x days, I had scandisk hose my system into unbootability on two different occasions. I always do backups prior. I've never had a problem with Defrag but I suppose any intense manipulation of HD data will have a tendency to put all functions to a hard test and any weaknesses will show up. Defrag and chkdsk are good maintenance programs but a good backup prior is very good.
