If you have SP1, start > all programs > set program access and defaults. There you will see three categories: Windows - non Microsoft - custom.

Look under the three and see what the browser is set. Can be reset here.

Not clear from your reply whether you have had the bad experiences or have read of them.

SP1 does come with an uninstaller. MS does require XP to have SP1 installed for any additions to the OS. You have already seen one of them. If you do decide to install it, you might think about ordering a cd-rom of SP1 available for $10.00 + shipping.

    Regards - Charles

OK, the last time I restarted XP I got the popup asking if I wanted IE as default browser. Don't know why it wasn't working before but alls well now. :D

    About SP-1...
No, have never tried to install just read about all the problems.
I have read about all the improvememnts that SP-1 does to help XP... I'm not having any of those problems so I guess for now I will leave well enough alone.
As far as the SP-1 CD Rom, I have high speed cable internet so there is np problem in downloading a copy when I desire to install.

    Thanks
