    Hi,

on my Notebook the default browser (either IE or Firefox, it need to be the default browser) opens a lots of Windows after some time and that more often during one Windows session and if using the Explorer and I get to this time, then it turns to my home page (here then using Internet Explorer I think) - this is also if opening control panel... if that happens I can barly to something... if I have no default browser active, the problem with Explorer.exe turning to the home page is still..

Well... my big problem is that I now have 3 times completely re-installed Windows XP with SP2 embedded and without even installing anything (I am not sure if I had Windows activated always but I think so), I always have this problem again...

And I don't know what the problem is...

As additional information Microsoft Antispyware (up-to-date) says no spyware threats found and the HiJackThis-Log just says this:

    Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0
Scan saved at 14:00:38, on 13.02.2005
Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
    MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)

    Running processes:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\slserv.exe
    C:\Programme\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntvdm.exe
    C:\Programme\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe
    C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Andreas\Desktop\HijackThis.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gcasServ] "C:\Programme\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe "
    O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Programme\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Programme\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
    O23 - Service: SmartLinkService - Unknown - slserv.exe (file missing)

This SmartLinkService seems to be there because of the Modem Driver (which was already installed after Windows installation, not installed by me manually)... and the slserv.exe is there in C:\Windows\System32

    which should be normal...
Microsoft Antispyware was not installed before, now just to find out if there is any Spyware installed...

I have now also tested a Windows XP Installation without any SP embedded, same problem (completely clean installation), this time not even activated...

ok... I think I now know what the problem is, there is some problem with the keys for web, e-mail a.s.o., they don't work always (normally I don't use them) and so I now tried SharpKeys to look for which keys get pressed, well they don't always get pressed if I press them... but asap my problem comes up, there stand Web: Home (E0_32) so the problem seems to be a bit hardware based... or BIOS-based... well I think I will disable those buttons somehow.. I think per TweakUI or SharpKeys this is possible if I am right...

and I just had the notebook in repair and the mainboard was exchanged... and a new BIOS version was put on it... maybe this is the problem...
