Hey there, anyone know if web sites or places to find relevant information on what hardware is required to interface a satellite dish with your pc?

I am interested in decoding Satellite informaiton with my pc.

    Hi Calculus

Not sure what your trying to do. Not knowing what outputs are available on your satellite decoder but most would output a standard TV type signal. This could be accessed using a TV/video capture card (signal capture only, outputting to your computer, channel selection via satellite decoder). Understand the normal TV capture card will NOT convert a satellite signal. They are based on the normal TV tuner. You could find a specific card that has the same tuner features as your dish tuner to change channels via the computer card (try contacting your signal provider for a PCI type decoder). Possible a video capture card would work for least cost signal capture, based on what outputs are available from your satellite decoder. For additional questions, answers and options you can read this F&Q
