    Hi,

My motherboard currently has 512MB of DDR266 - PC2100 RAM. I managed to spare 1GB of DDR400 - PC3200 of ram from another pc ... and i replace the older ram with this one? It worked a treat, however, i would like to ask if it is ok to keep using the RAM since it is of different frequency from what the motherboard takes?

Furthermore, on a pc with the following specs, will i be able to run vista on it?

    Intel Pentium 4 1.7GH
    1GB RAM (as described above)
    120GB Hard Disk
    NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 128MB

If it can handle vista, will it be able to handle the home premium, or just the home basic?

    Thank you for any feedback.

Your PC3200 is most likely running at 333 MHz or 266 MHz instead of its 400 MHz top rated speed. Thats a direct correlation to just how your motherboard or more specifically, your chipset is reading it. As to the Vista, you aren't going to be screaming but you sure can run it most adequately.

    ;)
