okay I work for a DSL ISP and in the last few days we have seen the following on winME machines when our customers are trying to install the connection software... "Cmi 2107637148 And It Could Not Detect A DDM (may have .dll attached) Router Connected To The Pc "...the customers are using a westell 2200 DSL/Router modem and this error is coming up whether they connect the 2200 to the PC with USB or Ethernet..))C:

searches of google, westell, M$ and here is pulling up nothing at all...i am stumped and my level 3 and level 4 techs are the same way...at this point we refer them to M$ as we are not able to either create the PPPoE connection on the comp or in the router...))C:

has anyone run into this ad if so can ya email me <edit note: keep it on the forum please rather than email so all can benefit>
or post here the reason for the problem and possible solutions...yer help would be deeply appreciated!!!! highly fustrated in Texas and not to mention I dont like ME anywho's...LOL...

    neomatsu...ready for a day off...((C:

    Interesting. Frustrating but interesting.

DMM in this case is probably Demand Dial Manager that is a feature of some routers.

New issue and unlikely that all your ME users did the same update and broke something so probably an issue on your end.

Router firmware change maybe? That wouldn't be specifically your issue unless you also make the Westell devices but to the customer, if you provide it, you own it.

If these are all new clients, are you shipping them an updated software version so maybe a buggy dll?

Have you tried substituting a different device for a customer who has problems?

these all have been new customers and they have not done any firware updates...we did a firmware update a month ago and did not run into this problem with any ME machines back then...

based on our policy we hae to ship the customer the same modem...maybe the escalation me and a level 4 tech are doing can get these ME customers a different modem (old 2100 combo modem w/no router), otherwise I am others are baffled at this point...

on your last point of "If these are all new clients, are you shipping them an updated software version so maybe a buggy dll?" if i am not wrong the firmware update has already been done by Westell...

this 2200 has been a problem from the get go...but there are customers that have had no problems, so who knows...it just seems like ME right now...i keep wondering if M$ put out a OS update for ME that maybe causing this, its not unheard of...kwel on info and if you hear of anything or anyone else hear of anything, please ost here so we can look into it...

thanks for all your time and help...HAVE A GREAT XMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!

    :D

...this 2200 has been a problem from the get go

Well, good luck. But it certainly sounds like a problem Westell needs to solve rather than folks just trying to use the gear.

There may just be some router/modem, PC hardware, OS (ME in this case) issues caused by something in their code. Wouldn't be the first time a gadget that usually did pretty well just ran into a combo it hated. Had the same sort of issues some years ago with a particular 3-com NIC, MS Word (forgot the version) and NT4. Just wouldn't work together. M$ finally came up with a tweak for it since two of the three pieces were theirs.

And assuming that a change in the 2200 or a change in ME would both fix things up, I think we can guess who is likely to change sooner. :D
