I recently upgraded my AutoCAD LT to the latest version. I then noticed that in Windows Explorer, the Outlook Express mailbox *.dbx file names were showed with the AutoCAD database icon and the description "AutoCAD LT database extension ". In the file associations dialog box under folder options, I changed the association of *.dbx files back to Outlook Express. The icon that appears there is the Outlook Express icon. However, even after many restarts, when I look at the Outlook Express *.dbx files using Windows Explorer, they still have the AutoCAD icon and description. Not a major problem, but I'm puzzled how these files can show as one thing in the file associations area and another thing in WIndows Explorer. Anyone comment?

I've experienced something similar - when I loaded Photoshop Elements to my m/c which has Photoshop 5.5, 6.01 and 7.01 installed it hijacked many of the basic Photoshop associations and icons in Windows Explorer. Resetting the associations did not completely solve the 'problem' - uninstalling Elements did.

I would also be interested in any comments on this.

I don't believe it's a problem to have them associated with another program. They have no default association. If you were to double click on your inbox.dbx file before you installed the program you would get the "open with" window. I would imagine if you double click on one after you install the program windows would try to open them with that program and you'd get an error of some sort. OE won't care if they're associated with something else or not. I'd just ignore it as they aren't meant to be opened by double clicking on them anyway. Just my two cents worth.
