I am running an older Dell Inspiron 1200 laptop with XP and all SP's installed.

While visiting Don in Arizona, I started to get an error message DATA EXECUTION PREVENTION. When I closed a tab in my IE browser, it was take minutes before I got an DEP error. It was sucking my resources. I consulted various websites, and followed ALL instructions on how to rid myself of this problem. It had gotten to a point, when I got back home I was going to reformat the hard drive and reinstall XP.

When I returned to Saint Louis, I did not get the error message again.

While at Don's I was connected via ethernet cable thru his cable router to Cox Cable ISP. At home I am on U-Verse.

QUESTION: Is it possible the ISP was causing all my problems, because once I got off Don's network I never experienced it again?

    Thanks

I am not getting the error at home, so I am posting the error, as I remember it to be, for the Data Execution Prevention error:

Data Execution Prevention "“ Microsoft Windows
To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program.
    Name: program name
    Publisher: program publisher

Data Execution Prevention helps protect against damage from viruses or other threats. Some programs might not run correctly when it is turned on. For an updated version of this program, contact the publisher. What else should I do?
