I was thinking about this. Isn't it kind of dangerous to say what firewall you use? Couldn't a cracker find a weakness if they know what kind you use?

I'm sure each firewall has its strengths and weaknesses, and crackers would know them.

Hmm...never thought about it that way. I suppose the outcome would still depend on the quality of your firewall. Most hackers and crackers don't want your data, they want your bandwidth. It's much easier to scan for unprotected PCs than to try to target specific ones.

Why would it matter if you tell wjat firewall you use? No one knows your exact ip address anyway. Even web server logs that record your ip address cannot connect it up with who you are.

And even then, someone knowing your ip address is not necissarily bad.

Theswe crim hackers are not interested in spending hrs trying to get past a firewall. Why should they do that when there are millions of other unprotected vulnerable systems out there!

The majority of criminals are lazy and all criminals are stupid. Their common denominator is "I want something for nothing ". Thus most are lazy and lack industriousness.
