Hope it's ok to post this here. I installed Daemon Tools on my pc (OS-XP service pak 3). from a disk, then I tried to d/load and install a game from the same disk. It appears it worked but I got a message "This platform is not supported ". I also got the message that a file is missing. (wondering if Norton had something to do with that) Also I had tried to put this on my external hard drive and it changed it from (J) to (K) and I can't run some of my programs because I don't have a (K) drive. Is there anyone that might be able to help me with this?
(This has been about a month ago and I have no doubt that I've forgotten some of the details) If you can help please put your directions in simple terms because I'm not too computer savvy.

From what I've read and learned over the past is anything from Daemon is sub par on almost everything they put out.
I stay away from their products. IMHO!

    Hi
Daemon tools is a virtual drive program to read iso etc....
Its ok but a better one is Poweriso.

From what you are saying it sounds like ur disk has Daemon Tools and a number of iso's on the disk.
After installing Daemon .. set the drive to 1 , which will change ur drive letters 1 up J to K etc...
Then mount the Iso... it then should either autoplay the setup file for the game or you will have to open the folder and run setup from there.
As for your error message , is the game ur trying to install, compatible with your OS check out the specs required for your game.
Also check if there are any Readme or NFO files,on the ISO after you have mounted it.

    Regards
    Peter

Hi. Should I uninstall everything, Daemon, game etc. and start over? I have a feeling that this is going to be a mess because I think it already is. My daughter worked on it after I did, so no telling what we did. lol

Also, is there more than one daemon tool....I mean a 32 bit and a 64 bit?

Forgot to mention if I click on the (Adventure) game icon on the desktop I get a message "problem with shortcut" the item Black Mirror.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.

    Hi,
Yes a fresh start is advisable.
Uninstall Daemon Tools and Uninstall your Game.
Then have a quick Clean up ,
    Use this free program
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
also use the registry tool in CCleaner to correct any issues you may have.
    Reboot Machine
Download PowerIso and install.. supports 32+64 OS
    http://www.poweriso.com/download.htm

Once installed poweriso it places a gold disc icon in your system taskbar right click it and set the number of drives to 1.
This creates a virtual drive (So your drives go 1 up).
Right click again and mount your image this will open a box then point it to your Iso.
It will then open the image on your virtual drive.
Have a look for any readme files on the image.
Run setup for game and install it to your local drive C:
Should be good to go after that .
    Providing the game is OK.
    Regards
    Peter

acuk. Thank you for helping me. I removed the game and Daemon, at least I think I got it all. Now, can I d/load all of this on my external drive? Also, is this going to change my drive back to (J) so that I can use my other programs that are on "My Book "?
Next question......are you saying any ISO will play on Daemon and PowerISO both?
I already had CCleaner, that one I am vaguely familiar with.

Well I decided to proceed with this task on my own..............I must be mentally challenged. I had the gold icon in the task bar and the icon on the desktop......good so far. Then I (R) clicked on the icon and set the drives to 1, then I (R) clicked again and clicked on the icon--mount your image and then I was lost. What image?
When I open the Iso window I get:
    Mount image to Drive (J) <no media>
    Unmount Drive J
    Set number of drives
    Unmount all drives
    Options

Earlier today I took everything off, game included.
Now, for some reason the little gold icon is no longer in the task bar. I am not a happy camper, I didn't realize that I was so dumb. Is there any hope of me completing this task? HELP!

Gee born2golf. What's up? I have installed poweriso and uninstalled daemon. If I can't use daemon or poweriso, what do you suggest that I use, or rather try to use?

    Hello Tezasnexus,

    http://www.poweriso.com/tutorials/index.htm

Read and study the above. Take no shortcuts and don't skim read. What you are trying to do needs a study-up so you won't feel so lost and helpless.

When done come back and I will see if I can walk you through what your trying to do, if you still need help. :) After reading the "how-to" section of the tutorial, you may have become your own expert.

This won't take very long. It's a very simplified explanation of what you need to do to mount the iso file, via a virtual rom drive, so that you can either...
    >extract it to folder "name of choice "
    >run any setup.exe that may be in the iso.
    >or burn it to disk such as cd or dvd.

    Easier yet.....
This is a utube demonstration of how-to:

goddez1, As always thanks for the input. I gave it a go and have the same problem. It looked as though it was going to work until I tried to play the game. I think I am going to take a break from this. I may give it a go later today.
Thank you for your help and kindness!

    Hi Texasnexus,

When you decide to pick up the gauntlet again and do battle with this challenge, please answer the below questions.

Mind if I ask what the name of the game is? There may be an easier way to do this other than the one your choosing.

    Based on quote:
    Is it:
    1) the game that will not run or
    2) the setup in the iso file, or
    3) are you still having difficulty just loading the iso?

If you have gotten as far as the mounting and the displaying of the contents of the iso?

When, in the "game" install process, do you get the error?

What is the error, quoted word for word?

    ------------------
A special thank to acuk. Good instructions but sometimes reinforcement or another explanation helps.

I get "Problem with shortcut ". The item BlackMirror2.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.
I have a feeling there is more of a problem than this. However now the game that I haven't been able to play for 6 weeks is playable. Will try to get back to it soon.
Hubby is having a problem with the Directv, so gotta go take care of that.
