Vista Premium. D E P constantly closes Windows Media center, Windows Gallery. has closed com Surrogate. Windows host process(rundle32) and other Photo Programmes. I admit I do not understand the technicalities but as my interest is photography it is most annoying and as I am doing nothing different than I did with windows 98 it has taken all the pleasure awy from my PC

Hi cownmanb. To make sure that DEP isn't on for all programs and services try this, Click Start, Right Click on My Computer and click properties. A new window should open. On the left pane click advanced system properties. Another window should open with the advanced tab open. Click the settings button under Performance options. Another window should open and now click the Data Execution Prevention tab. Select the option to Turn on DEP for essential windows programs and services only. Click ok. Reboot the computer. If you are still having problems with DEP then you will have to turn it off entirely. If that is the case then follow the instructions outlined here, http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/120778-dep-enable-disable.html. :)
