CWShredder not removing Cool Web Search

    I'm trying to remove the spyware from a friends older laptop (IBM Thinkpad, Win ME, 128MB RAM, 7 GB harddrive with over 2 GB free, PII processor). When I run CWShredder, latest version with latest update, it shows the system clean. When I run Ad-Aware SE, I get 972 critical objects, most of which are Cool Web Search files. SpyBot also shows a boatload of Cool Web Search occurrences. Why did CWShredder miss these files? Might I have a gremlin that is causing this? :confused:

    fieldtech--The bad news is that CWShredder, inspite of being "new" (from Intermute) is really about six months out of date. So the Wonderful Fellows from CoolWebSearch have developed many new variants which are not affected by CWS. Suggest you have your friend follow the instructions here concerning HiJackThis and post the log at this Forum at WindowsBBS.
