I have been having a problem with Windows XP Pro.

When I go into Taskbar Properties | Hide Inactive Icons, the Behavior drop-down window for Customize Notifications does not show any options except "Hide when Inactive ". This is happening on just one PC at home while all is well on other PCs. In other words, the options, "Always Hide" and "Always Show" are unavailable to me. I can send a screenshot if need be.

Is there a registry fix, or some thing else to rectify this? I surfed extensively to find an answer to this, to no avail.

    Thanks in advance.

When you click on an item in the window, do you see the drop down menu?

    Thanks for the response, Steve.

Yes, I do see the window but with only one option, "Hide when Inactive ". The drop-down window itself is there. However, "Always Hide" and "Always Show" are missing when I drop down.

    Hi Steve,

It happens to every single one of them. Not a single one in that long list has anything else in the dropdown window!

    Hello Evan,

THANK YOU! That did it! I still don't see the Hide and Show options - still only one solitary option in the dropdown window, which I believe can be fixed only by reinstalling the OS - but that is fine with me, because after using the tool you recommended, I see the two icons I needed reappear in the tray on every bootup! I am saving this tool as I never came across it, despite extensive Web searches! I knew I could count on WindowsBBS - you come through every time!

Thanks to Steve, as well, for trying to help.

    Have great day, gentleman!
