Custom logos in favorites list - how do they do that?

I was wondering how some websites are able to specify the icon that is seen in my favorites list. I have a number of them that have a custom icon instead of the 'e' logo. Can some one enlighten me?

There is more than one method of using a favorite icon for any web page. The simplest way is to add this line to the head section of the html
<LINK REL= "SHORTCUT ICON" href= "URL of the icon ">

eisenerg--You did not ask this question, but maybe you would like to know how to keep those icons showing in your Favorites list even after you clean your cache (Temporary Internet Files).
