I hope I am sending this to the right forum.
My granddaughter was playing on my laptop. Now the cursor (pointer) will not move. It seems to just be the touchpad. I can use a wireless mouse but can not do a thing with touchpad. Also there appears to be an image of something like a small flashlight on the screen all the time now. I did a system restore to no avail. I would appreciate any help. I am using a sony vaio and running windows 7.
    Thanks so much

Highly likely that your granddaughter managed to turn off the touch pad - I suggest you check out your manual for details as to how to turn it back on.

If you post the model no. of the Sony Vaio we can probably guide you if necessary.

I agree. It is likely a simple "function key" (Fn) combination and the touch pad was disabled. My notebook has icons on the F keys showing their function. So, for example, on my notebook, if I hold down the Fn key and press F9, it enables/disabled the touch pad.
