When I launch IE7 I get the following Startup Monitor warning:
I always select the "No" option. Sometimes the IE7 launch will abort and I have to relaunch.

This seemed to coincide with installation of Google Chrome which I have since uninstalled. I Googled this executable and it appears it's use is primarily for some Microsoft applications which I don't use. I found several procedures for removing the ctfmon.exe. Would I cause any problems by removing it or should I leave it alone?

I use Starter to control my startups and ctfmon.exe has been disabled without issue for a long time.

I would tend to go that route rather than remove it completely - just to be safe :)

If you don't need the language bar functionality, stop it from starting up by going to Start > Control Panel > Switch to Classic View > Regional and Language Options > Languages Tab > Details > Advanced tab then put a tick in "˜Turn off advanced text services’ and hit Apply. This removes ctfmon.exe from the running processes and from starting up when you boot.

However, it sometimes reappears after an Internet Explorer 7 update.

Thanks for the inputs. I followed BurrWalnut's disable suggestion and the process has disappeared from the Task Manager Processes list. I uninstalled Mike Lin's Startup Monitor and downloaded the "Starter" that Pete suggested. Looks like I have a new tool to learn.

I mentioned that the IE 7 launch has been closing before it is completely booted up. When I first turned my machine on this morning, I had to restart IE7 4 times before it finally stabilized. That may be related to my Google Chrome download. If that issue continues, I will start a new thread - after I do some checking on Google Chrome/Microsoft interactions. Again, thanks.
