    Hi, jammer. :)

From what I gathered via Google, it appears your issue is probably related to Microsoft Office (CTFMON.EXE in particular).

I am inclined to suggest you try the following steps first.
    1. Have your Microsoft Office installation CD handy because you might be prompted to place it in your CD tray.
    2. Close all currently running applications.
    3. Open a Microsoft Office application (such as Word).
    4. Click Help > "Detect and Repair... "
    5. Click the Start button.
    6. Then reboot after the process completes.

CTFMON.EXE is not really needed unless you require the task it performs .....
Frequently asked questions about Ctfmon.exe - I disabled it long time ago - note you cannot simply disable through msconfig as stated in the article above.

I use CodeStuff Starter to control my startups and disable it there.

I haven't used CodeStuff Starter but, since PeteC uses it, I would not hesitate to suggest it. :)

    Another Startup Manager:
WinPatrol also includes startup management capabilities. If you go with WinPatrol, you can enhance your computer's security as well. :)

At the risk of jinxing myself.... the CTF alert seems to have stopped... altho, it returned to SYS Config, & appears in MIKE Lin's Start Ctl: HKLM/RUN & DELETED windows... Will inform if alert returns... Tx again
