    Hi,
I have just connected my two systems with a crossover cable and two 590N Network cards. One system runs Win98sec the other Millenium.
I followed the instructions as how to setup the network (I think) but the two will not talk to each other. Can someone help and walk me through the setup as this is my first time doing this.
    Thanks.

Assuming that TCP/IP is working properly on both PCs, you just need to give them IP addresses that can 'see' each other.

    - test IP by opening a command window on each PC and then keying in ping 127.0.0.1 and pressing ENTER. You should get 4 good responses. If that works, proceed. If it fails, the networking piece isn't properly installed on whichever PC and will need to be redone.

    - give one PC an IP address of 192.168.0.10 and the other an IP address of 192.168.0.20. Both should have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.

    - place both PCs in the same workgroup. Doesn't matter what you call it as long as the name is 15 characters or less, is all alpha numeric characters (any letters or numbers) or the symbols - (minus sign) or _ (underscore), and has no spaces. So MY-STUFF will be fine but MY STUFF or MY*STUFF will not.
