My sons computer recently became infected with something. It was so bad Windows would not start. I managed to get Windows up and running and I posted a HiJack This log and do a DSS scan, I also posted that log.

His solution to the problem, buy a new computer.

I am not familiar with Windows Vista, so help me out. AVG has been a good choice for my computer (XP Pro ), is it also a good choice for Vista (Home Premium)?

Will Spyware Blaster work on Vista?

Any help setting up this new computer will be appreciated

AVG will work fine in Vista, although I have to admit I was not pleased with it's performance. My notebook seemed to slow down after installing it. A much better solution, in my opinion, is Avira Antivir found at http://www.free-av.com

In Windows Vista there may be a problem with launching the update feature for Antivir (it's been documented). If you try to update it manually by right clicking on the umbrella in the system tray, and clicking on update now, and nothing happens, please post back so I can help you. That is if you want to use AntiVir. :)

AVG is still a good choice though.

SpywareBlaster works in Vista as well (I just installed it actually). I remembered using this program a long time ago, but couldn't remember the name of it. Thanks for the memory jog. :)
