I just upgraded today. How do I create a desktop shortcut in Netscape 7.02? In 4.75 you just right click, drag & drop. Click it and you go to that web site.

In 7.02 it creates a IE shortcut but when you click it there is no link to the website. None of the 4.75 shortcuts work either since uninstalling 4.75. Please help.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Welcome to the Forum, Jefftsis!

    Hi Jeff,

To place a web page shortcut on the desktop, grab the small icon which is just to the left of "http://.... Screen Shot, and drag it to the desktop.

Is IE your default browser, or Netscape 7.02? If you have made Netscape 7.02 your default browser there should be no problem with the shortcut.

Let us know, so we can give you some alternative options for your desktop shortcuts.

Reply to Ramona re desktop Short cuts

    Ramona,
Thanks very much for your quick reply and the clear help info!! 7.02 was not my default browser but is now and the short cuts are now working with one small problem.

They still come as IE icons and I would like them to show up with the Netscape icon. How do I fix this.

Thanks again in advance for your help.

    Hi Jeff,

Glad to hear the shortcuts are working! To change the icon:
    Right click the Icon
    Select: Properties
Click the "Web Document Tab "
Click the "Change Icon Tab "
    Click the "Browse" Tab
Then browse to the folder which contains the Netscape executable file. Found here, unless you have changed the default location:
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\NETSCAPE\NETSCAPE\NETSCP.EXE

Now you should have the Netscape 7 Icon.

I will look forward to working with you again, although it should be pretty smooth sailing as I'm a light web user/surfer - business mostly.
