    Hello,

Is it possible to install windows XP, set up your programs and settings etc and then create a backup or a reinstall disk to save you having to sit for a few hours setting everything up again after a reinstall?

So basically all you need to do is back up your files that are not programs and run the disk, copy the files back over and your running a "clean" install but it will have the setttings you require.

Looking for this as it takes me several hours to set up my works laptop with all the settings\programs that are needed.

I have tried a few different applications but they mainly want you to backup the entire HD, which takes quite a few DVD's, hoping some knows of something simpler

    Thanks

I recommend you check out imaging software, like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image. These allow you to create an exact image of your hard drive. In the event of a drive failure, you "re-image" the drive and take off running.
