    The specs are as follows:

    XP2600 (1.91GhZ) 333MhZ FSB

    I have two problems:

    motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X-X

auto detect cpu the speed is at 1150MhZ

I figure I "ll have to manually adjust these settings. Now do I have to set the external frequency to 166? and then work with the CPU frequency multiple? or does it matter what external frequency I use for the CPU?

also, if using 400MhZ RAM, will this be work with the motherboard? the motherboard says it is 400MhZ compatible but does that have any relation to the CPU? (which is 333MhZ FSB)

    thank you

I don't know what your specific bios looks like or what it calls everything but you're going to want to set the clock speed of your cpu and your memory to 166. And either leave your multiplier at default or set it to 11.5 to get the correct cpu "speed ".

Apparently, your memory can run beyond 166Mhz so you should be okay as long as your mainboard "likes" it.

A little challenge for you - if your 400mhz memory is any good, you can probably set your FSB to 200 instead of 166 and run that board and that CPU as a 3200+

This is what has made 2500+ Bartons so popular. $80 for for a monster.

    ;)
