I turned off the system before leaving for a 4 day vacation. Everything is plugged into protected outlets. No severe weather.

I came home and turned on the system and every thing (monitor, printer, 2 ext. hard drives, speakers and modems) turned on except the CPU. Tried different outlets with no luck.

Is there a fuse, breaker or battery that may have gone out or am I looking at a larger problem? Could the on/off button go out? Unit is right at 3 years old.

    Thanks, Ron

Hi Rojam, have you opened the case and had a look if the CPU fan is spinning, also check if the fan blades are clear of dust.
Also see if your motherboard has a little green or red light. Are there any case fans, check if any of the fans when you press the power button make an attempt to spin up, it could be your power supply. Hard to say at this point of time.

Could be the power supply but could also be the motherboard battery.

Open up the computer & replace the battery. It might just work.

I took off the side cover for general inspection. There way some dust but nothing that would hinder fans from turning.

With the cover off, I pressed the on/off button (it clicks when pressed so I think it is working) with no response from anything. It doesn't seem to be getting any power. I have tried different outlets but get the same results. A friend said something about a "power pack" may have gone out.

    I'm at a loss.

The "power pack" is the power supply.

It could be faulty though the only way to be certain is to test it in another working PC or testing a working power supply in your PC.

    Now I understand it.

Talk to the man at the local computer repair store. Nice people. He thought the same thing. Brought him the CPU and in less the 3 hours had it back working great. Typing on it now.

He install a 380W Raidmax power supply and a 4 pin Molex to SATA power adapter.

However, it did cost me $120.55. Don't know if I want to google the parts to see what they cost. Not sure I could have done it myself anyway so it was money well spent.

Thanks for the replies and advice.
