Depending on what you are doing, I would check and reduce the Processes as 56 seems about 20 more than mine. Stop programs that you don't need to operate all the time.
Go > Start > Run > type msconfig OK > Startup and see what you don't need to run. Neil.

Could well be some malware infection. Suggest you head to Virus & Malware section of this forum.

Hi 401402. Could you please provide a little more information about the high CPU usage. Does the high CPU usage happen very often? Have you made any recent hardware or software changes before this issue started happening?

Lets see what processes are actually running on your system. Download and run Process Explorer from here. Extract the contents of the folder and then run the procexp.exe program. After it opens see if you can pinpoint any processes that you don't need running and find out which ones are taking up most of the CPU usage.

After you have monitored the processes, in Process Explorer click File< Save As and save the text file to your desktop.

Open the text file and copy and paste the results here in your next reply with the number of processes the computer is running.

Yes, it would be helpful if you told us what you did to solve the problem.

I occasionally have this problem too. I'm going to try Process Explorer when it happens and post the results as Evan Omo suggested.

Hey 401402, please post how you resolved.
