Most probably a BIOS problem. Try going into BIOS setup and checking the settings for the multiplier, or autodetection.

Check for a BIOS update for the newer processors.

Abraxas is right and your bus speed may be set at 100 instead of 133.

The clock speed and the performance rating are two different numbers. My Xp 1800 actually is a 1533 Mhz chip. But your 2200 should be running faster than 1500. I'm not sure of the exact clock speed but probably ~1900 Mhz.

If you are running Win2k check your system properties to see what Windows thinks you are running.

OK, each time I set the BIOS to 133 (132 is max) it goes back to 100. I see a note on start-up that very quickly says "MBUltra 133 (PDC20276) BIOS is not installed because there are no drivers attached. Windows 'My Computer' properties IDs the CPU as a 1500+ (not a 2200+) but as I said the setting dosen't hold. Advise?

I'm sorry, I don't know your MB and thus, will (rare occasion) bite my tongue. I can't answer your question directly.

Generally speaking, have you moved off the auto detect setting? Have you saved changes on exit from bios? Do you have an old bios that perhaps doesn't recognize a CPU higher than 1500+? What is your multiplier?

    13.5 x 133 should give you roughly 1800 which is a 2200+ Athlon.

Try the MB mfg web site FAQ's.

Hi I have a Gigabyte GA-7VTXE+ and on the board there is a single dip switch CLK_SW which was set at the factory at 100 it made my AMD 1700XP run at 1100 MGH and when I switched it to 133 it then ran at the correct speed at 1467 MGH. My CK_RATIO is set to auto. So you might look on the board to see if it has the same switch as on 7VTXE. Thats all I know what to say I hope it works.

I'm not shure about your board but in some boards for u to switch to 133 u have to do it directly in the board and also in the bios. check the boards manual.
And also u haven't said if u have your bios updated or not, check your boards site for updates on the bios.
