Several years ago COX Internet implemented a search redirect for mistyped or nonexistant URLs entered in the browser address/location bar. Failed lookups result in a COX Webpage with partner Yahoo serach results.

To opt out of this COX redirect one had to use alternate COX DNS server IP addresses in one's router or TCP/IP Properties on each computer. (or use other DNS providers such as openDNS or Google)

Recently, COX changed their DNS configuration, there are no more opt-out DNS servers from COX.

To opt-out of the COX redirect, and use your default search engine for such failed DNS inquiries, go to the COX Website > Support > and search for the term "Enhanced Error Results ".

A Web form will be provided where you can opt-out of the Enhanced Error Results feature.
