i've recently installed windows xp professional.
i think there may have been a couple of errors when installing as my cd-rom drive is not reliable.

i tried to install a printer, and i get a box saying something like "unable to install ".
also, i've downloaded IE6, installed it and can't find the program at all! i've searched the hard drive and its not there. i can get online by clicking CONNECT TO but i don't have a web browser.

are the 2 problems due to an error in the windows installation? is it that i have some files missing from the install?

    suggestions greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

Be sure to get the most recent printer drivers from the manufacturer's site and try to install them.

You shouldn't "download" any version of IE6 since it is included in XP Pro and all other versions, too. If IE6 is not there, format your drive and reinstall the entire operating system. IE is far too integrated into XP to allow proper functioning of XP without many of the shared components of IE6.
