He has run Spybot 1.3, Adaware and Pest Patrol. Norton 2004 has also been run. We've also run CW Shredder

All of these find 'nasties' but his IE Hompage is still hijacked and various pop ups appear saying "Buy our software u have got spyware ".

The one item that keeps coming back is CWS.SEARCHX. It just won't go.

He also can't use Windows update?!?!

I'm guessing that the items to fix in the HJT log are the R1's one of the O2's (no name) and the 017 (which I did try...but they have come back)

Any help and advice much appreciated.

P.S I have some info on removing CWS.SEARCHX but haven't got round to trying it yet as it involves reg editing.

    Thanks for your help..

Hes also running out of resources and the machine is very slow to shut down, a result of the nasties? Or Just Nortons??

I haven't fixed anything. I also found he has Deins_qfe002 which I have read is spyware. I removed it from the run part of his registry and found th eexe in his system32 folder, but I can't delete it. It says its protected.

I've left him running a RAVONLINE virus scan.

    Any more ideas please?
