In my Windows XP event viewer I receive after a partial
    boot up..

"The SNMP Service is ignoring extension agent key
    SOFTWARE\Microsoft\IPXMibAgent\CurrentVersion because
it is missing or misconfigured. "

I defragged and found the following file corrupted.
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\software (23,000kbytes)

My latest restore point does not fix it.

I could not find a solution in MS Knowledge base.

    Any good suggestions? AND ..

    Thanks in advance!

Hello Bill and welcome to the Board,

You can try a basic remedy for corrupt Windows files:

    http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/howto-24.html

sfc is silent, if it does replace anything, it'll be logged in the System log in Event Viewer.

Is this giving you any other symptoms?

    Regards - Charles
