If I have a desktop and a laptop how do I copy files from one to the other (I run Windows XP on a HP Pavilion a1550y)? I don't currently have a laptop but am considering a purchase, and would be using both computers.

I assume the new laptop would have the latest. But if I write an article using the PC would these instructions allow me to save it on both?

Yes, but if you have wireless network cards fitted on both PC's you can do it through an add hoc link by sharing the files between the PC's, that is probably the easiest method and no cables required.
