I'm using Windows XP with MS Office (Small Business). When I try to add clip art (to a Word document) I am able to search a large library of clip art files which are available to view (as a preview) directly from the computer HD. When I try to insert theses files into a document, however, I'm told that they are on the Office CD and to insert the CD. I am able to copy the clip art from the CD to the document .... but have not been able to successfully add various clip art files from the CD to the "my collection" files on the HD. (When I think I've been able to do this ... I go back and try to again copy a file from "my collection" to a document and again receive a message that the file is on the CD and that I need to re-insert the CD.)

Can someone refer me to a site that explains how to develop a collection of clip art for the HD from the CD (or provide some insight as to what I might be doing wrong)???

    Thanks in advance!!

You never actually got the clip art loaded - just the preview piece. That is the default option (to save space) if you just do the routine install of the package.

If you go to add/remove programs and select MS Office it will allow you to modify your installation. Check the various options and you should find the one to actually load the clip art.

Sorry - don't have the office CD to play with so I can give you specifics but look around a little and you should find it.

Office 2000 has it in "Office Tools ", and if I remember correctly..... When found click on the arrow next to it and choose the install option of "run all from computer ". This should install all clipart to harddrive.

Shoot, if your computer has enough space you can choose this option for all the components you have installed. This will keep the request for the CD down to a bare minimum such as when you do a "repair ".

I always customize [pair down] my office installs since a lot of excess baggage gets loaded by "Typical Install" and some things I wish to install are not included in and I always opt to "run all from my computer ".

    Got it repaired!

Thanks for the in-put. Although the sofware was supposedly installed ... there apparently was some problem with it. I removed the XP Media files - and re-installed them and now it's working just fine.

    Again, thanks for the suggestions!
    :)
