I am using FF 2.x.13. I have been puzzled by my inability to copy bookmarks from one partition to the other. I've copied bookmarks before but for some reason can't see to be able to do it right. I get my XP bookmarks and every time I place them in the Vista partition profile folder, I open up ff again and see that I have the old (Vista) bookmarks. I get the warning window that Vista gives you--do you want to move and replace, cancel, or keep both...I select move and replace.

    The addresses are:
    XP (original location) D:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\blahblahblah.default

Then, I copy them onto my desktop and then move them onto my VIsta partition, here:
    C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default

Every single time I do this, I open up FF again but then see the old bookmarks. What am I doing wrong?

    Paul,

Do you have separate Profiles for Firefox on each partition?

Have you tried renaming the "Old" Vista Bookmarks file to e.g., OLDbookmarks.html, and then copy the "good" bookmarks.html file to the C: partition?

If this doesn't work, then try exporting the "good" bookmarks html file with the Bookmark Manager, rather than copy/paste.

Yes I have separate profiles. I tried deleting my Vista bookmarks, and also renaming them as OLDbookmarks.html. It doesn't seem to matter. Using the bookmarks manager I can import my XP bookmarks, but only into the Vista bookmarks--I'd rather just replace the Vista bookmarks, instead of merge them. Is there any way I can replace?

    Paul,

    Try this:

Using the Vista Bookmark Manager, Import the XP Bookmarks

    Next:
Highlight the Imported "Personal Toolbar" of the imported Bookmarks
Click on: Edit | Set as Bookmarks Toolbar Folder

    Next:
Highlight the Bookmarks you wish to replace
    Click on: Delete
