Does anyone know how to copy mail from one computer to another? I have just got a new computer and obviously do not want to loose all my previous messages.
    I use Mozillia Thunderbird.

    Thanks

Welcome to the Forum, nobbie ferguson!

    nobbie,

Here's the drill for the most trouble-free move:

Copy the entire Thunderbird folder on your old PC from:
    < path >\Application Data\Thunderbird folder

Install Thunderbird on the new PC and elect to NOT migrate any data
Create a new Profile, and elect to use "Default User" as the Profile Name

Start Thunderbird, but exit when the Mail Wizard comes up

    Next, with Thunderbird closed:

Navigate to the < path >\Application Data\Thunderbird folder
    Delete the Thunderbird folder

    Next:
Copy the Thunderbird folder from the Old PC to the < path >\Application Data Folder
Start Thunderbird, and your Mail and all data will be in place.

Let us know if you have further questions.

    Hi Ramona,

Thank you for this tip. I just moved my old Thunderbird to my new PC with no problem. That saved me a lot of headache! Thank you!

However I was a bit confused. You said to copy the entire Thunderbird folder.

It took me a bit to realize you meant the Thunderbird folder under "application data" not the one under "program files ".

Hopefully this will help any of you that are having problems with the above tip.

Ben, you brought up a good point. The program files stuff is highly disposable, and makes it possible to run the program, but all the data is in the Doc and Settings, i.e. the Profile, just as it has been in the Netscapes post-4.8.

    Welcome to the Forum, BenFitts!

    BenFitts,

Sorry the instructions were not clear for you. I have added the path of the Thunderbird folder to my earlier post for others not experienced, or knowledgeable about the Profiles location.
