I currently use Outlook 2003 at work. I do not like it and want to convert to OE. I cannot find a way to export and import the mail accounts from Outlook into OE. I have looked into the Export in outlook and it only allows Export to a file and not the mail accounts or settings.

Two step process here for your mail folders.

Export from Outlook to a .csv file. Import to OE from the .csv file.

    OLDSALTY--OE's Help says the following
"To import messages from other e-mail programs

Using the Outlook Express Import Wizard, you can easily import e-mail messages from a variety of popular Internet e-mail programs such as Netscape Communicator and Eudora, as well as from Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook.

On the File menu, point to Import, and then click Messages.
Select the e-mail program you want to import messages from, and then click Next.
Verify the location of your messages, and then click Next.
Choose All folders to import all the messages, and then click Next. You can also choose Selected Folders to import messages from one or more folders.
    Click Finish. "

I have 8 email accounts and 15 message rules in Outlook. I do not want to retype everything in OE. I just want to import them.

Ahhhh - got it now I think. Didn't understand at first.

I found this on another forum. Can't verify the accuracy since I'm at work and running from an exchange server which makes account handling very different than with normal Outlook.

    Microsoft outlook >> Tools >> account >> Single-click on account to back-up >> export

The export button is listed below the Set as Default button on the right-hand side pane of the internet accounts window.

The ability to export accounts to a file was removed from OL 2003 (regretfully). There is no "export' button for accounts. The settings are stored in the registry and cannot be imported into OLE. Rules are stored in the .pst file itself (as opposed to a .rwz file as in previous versions) but can be exported to a file but, again, not imported to OLE. The OP will have to enter all accounts and rules in OLE manually.

    Regards,

    Erronius
